10:15PM That was a tough right-to-left eagle putt for McIlroy but he leaves himself an easy birdie putt, which he takes, so he moves to four under up into a tie for second place.
Aberg gets a birdie and moves to two under. Back-to-back birdies for the world number five. Bhatia also birdies and is one over.
10:10PM McIlroy’s second into the par-five 13th is sublime and he will have a decent opportunity for eagle. Bhatia and Aberg also play excellent second shots and we could see a few eagles in quick succession on the 13th green.
Up on 14 Fitzpatrick has got a birdie and is now two under.
10:00PM Yet another birdie on the day for Justin Rose and is up to eight under so he holds a four-shot lead over Scottie Scheffler and Corey Connors. What a round from the 44-year-old!
10:00PM DeChambeau went over the back of the 12th green with his tee shot into the bunker and his shot from the bunker is not great. His tricky par putt slides past the left edge and it will be a bogey to drop back to -1.
Also a bogey for Matsuyama as he drops to one under.
Up at the last two-time Masters champion Watson lands a par putt to finis hos opening round on one under.

9:52PM McIlroy misses his birdie attempt so has to settle for a par.
Aberg lands his birdie putt and is now one under.
Up on 17 Masters debutant Matt McCarty has eagled the 17th to move to three under in a tie for fourth.
9:48PM Who would have predicted this at the start of the day? Maybe Justin Rose’s family! He birdies 15 to move seven under and open up a three-shot lead at the summit of the leaderboard.

Behind on the 11th green DeChambeau salvages a par with a clutch putt.
9:47PM On 12 McIlroy has found the green safely on the par three. A sensible tee shot that presents him an outside chance of a birdie.

9:41PM The Spaniard’s day goes from bad to worse as his par putt slides past the left edge and he puts his head in his hands. He is now three over.
9:35PM The 2023 champion has just begun his back nine at two over and his second towards the 10th green misses out to the left. He has not looked comfortable at all out there today.
Up ahead on 11 McIlroy comes very close to adding his fourth birdie of the day but he settles for a solid par as he gets one part of Amen Corner out of the way.
9:24PM Our current leader looked like he may have been struggling to make par on the par-four 14th but he remains bogey-free on his opening round and stays at six under.
Meanwhile back on 12 his fellow Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick has registered a bogey and dropped back to one under.
Another 2023 European Ryder Cup player has dropped a shot as Shane Lowry has made bogey on 10.
