What day is the Super Bowl? Date, kickoff time, location, game details

The 2025 NFL playoffs are in full swing and just a handful of games separate the NFL from its battle for the crown jewel of the 2024 season.

Super Bowl 59 is just a few weeks away, and eight teams are still vying for the coveted Lombardi Trophy ahead of the divisional round. That group will be whittled to four over the weekend, but there is still a ways to go before Super Bowl Sunday is here.

Under the NFL’s previous scheduling format, in place since the early 2000s, Super Bowl Sunday was always the first Sunday in February. But thanks to the league’s updated schedule, it now takes place one week later.

Here’s what to know about about Super Bowl 59, including the day it’s on, the time it starts and how to watch it.

Where is Super Bowl 59 being played?

  • Location: Caesars Superdome, New Orleans, Louisiana

New Orleans is hosting the 2025 edition of the Super Bowl. It marks the eighth time that the Superdome, which has a 50-year history, has hosted the Big Game. That’s the most of any NFL stadium.

The Superdome was originally slated to host Super Bowl 58, but the NFL’s expansion to a 17-game season meant the event – which was awarded to the city in 2018 – would interfere with Mardi Gras. As a result, the NFL opted to host Super Bowl 58 in Las Vegas while bumping New Orleans’ hosting duties out one year.

Super Bowl 47 was the most recent NFL championship game to be held at the Superdome. That matchup was the famed “Harbaugh Bowl,” when Jim Harbaugh’s San Francisco 49ers faced John Harbaugh’s Baltimore Ravens. That game famously featured a second half delay when the stadium lights went out. The Ravens ended up winning the game 34-31 to give Joe Flacco his lone Super Bowl win to date.

Baltimore will be hoping to repeat its luck in 2025, this time with Lamar Jackson at quarterback.
