The Sweet 16 of the women’s NCAA Tournament is underway on Thursday.
Four games are in action on Thursday, with Duke already securing the first Elite Eight berth after defeating in-state rival North Carolina 47-38 in a defensive battle. Other matchups include Maryland-South Carolina, LSU-NC State and Ole Miss-UCLA.
Coach Kim Mulkey and the No. 3 seed Tigers have a tough task ahead against No. 2 seed NC State, in what should be one of the better matchups of the Sweet 16. LSU, who reached the Elite Eight in each of Mulkey’s first two seasons at the helm, match up with prolific Wolfpack guards Aziaha James and Zoe Brooks, who are averaging 18.1 and 14 points per game this season, respectively.
