CM Punk faced Seth Rollins on WWE Raw on Netflix

WWE Raw on Netflix advertised a supercard featuring appearances from The Rock, ulk Hogan and John Cena. Raw’s debut on Netflix also advertised Rhea Ripley vs. Li Morgan for the WWE Women’s World Championship, Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa for the title of Tribal Chief and CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins in the main event.
Hulk Hogan also made his return to WWE for the festivities, but unfortunately, the embattled WWE Hall of Famer was booed out of the Intuit Dome.
Last week’s broadcast of Raw garnered 1.596 million viewers.

Triple H Introduces WWE’s Netflix Era
After an incredible video package on a screen covering the ring, a pyro explosion caused the cover to drop, revealing Triple H to a massive pop.
Triple H reminded an already lively crowd that they were being seen by the entire globe. He then asked: “Are You Ready?!” Of course they were.

The Rock Appears Live On Netflix
The Rock announced the largest live gate for a WWE Raw before making a Squid Games reference. He then shouted out Cody Rhodes for “carrying this company on his back for a year.” Rhodes received an unreal reaction when he was shown on the big screen. Rock then (almost) jokingly said “tell Mama Rhodes The Rock says hello.”
Rock acknowledged his cousin Roman Reigns as the Tribal Chief. He then doubled down and said Reigns was the “Original Tribal Chief.” Something tells me this shoutout won’t age well.

Roman Reigns Def. Solo Sikoa
The referees are wearing new black polos in honor of the Netflix Era.
Loud “f—k you Solo!” chants broke out after Paul Heyman’s spirited introduction of Roman Reigns.
WWE aired an incredible video package showing the history of Tribal Combat for the live crowd.
Solo Sikoa fought off all the anti-Solo chants and beat the hell out of Reigns with a chair. Solo tried to Pillmanize Reigns with a running butt bump on a chair, but Reigns moved out of the way to a huge pop. Now, it was Roman’s turn for revenge with a steel chair.
In the loudest pop to this point, Roman Reigns power bombed Solo through a table in the middle of the ring for a nearfall. Fans were furious when Tama Tonga broke up the nearfall. Jacob Fatu hit cleanup with a double-jump moonsault. Still, Reigns kicked out at two.
Solo took out the referee with a Samoan Spike out of frustration, this brought out Sami Zayn and Jimmy Uso to even the odds. After a Roman Reigns nearfall, fans chanted “this is awesome!” A historically great crowd for Raw’s Netflix debut.
Shockingly, Kevin Owens came out of nowhere to stick Reigns with a Stunner. Nearfall. Cue the “Cody” chants, and Cody answered by hitting the ring before Owens could hit Reigns with a Package Piledriver. Owens and Rhodes brawled into the crowd.
Roman Reigns won with a Spear. After the match, Paul Heyman presented the Sacred Ula Fala to…The Rock. Who a knighted Roman Reigns with it. There was no heel turn. Everybody got their happy ending…for now.

John Cena Appears Live
The New Day cut a great heel promo burying Kendrick Lamar in Inglewood and saying Drake won the beef.
John Cena was showered by “thank you Cena” chants from the LA crowd. Cena shouted out his time in LA as “The Prototype” when he wrestled in UPW in Orange County.
Cena teased wrestling the likes of Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes in his last match at WrestleMania. When he said he could be a 17-time world champion, fans said “you deserve it!” Cena said it’s been 2,446 days since he won his last world title match. That’s crazy.
Cena said it would take a miracle to win a championship match i.e. win Money in the Bank, survive Elimination Chamber or win the Royal Rumble. Fans really popped for the Royal Rumble reference.
Cena ended a spirited promo by vowing to win the Royal Rumble. That would be a truly great moment, but if an up-and-coming heel eliminated Cena in the Royal Rumble, it would be the equivalent to ending The Undertaker’s Streak.
John Cena’s Promo Grade: B+
Rhea Ripley Def. Liv Morgan
WWE showed various legends and Superstars in attendance including Danielle Fischel, Gabriel Iglesias, X-Pac, Shinsuke Nakamura, LA Knight, Bianca Belair, Naomi, Michael Che, Seth Green and Macaulay Culkin.
Despite the recent surge in support for Liv Morgan online, this was very much a pro-Mami crowd.
Morgan kicked out of a Riptide to the surprise of many. Not to be outdone, Ripley kicked out of the Oblivion.
Morgan hit Ripley with the Three Amigo suplexes, which is like ordering Eddie Guerrero from Starbucks.
Ripley fight back to stick Morgan with not one, but two more Riptides for the win. After her big win, Dominik Mysterio tried to kiss and make up with Rhea, but she stuck him with a Riptide, too. Ripley was then knighted by none other than “The American Badass” Undertaker.
The Miz and Karrion Kross cut a live promo in the crowd where Miz said he could beat John Cena in the Royal Rumble.
Rhea Ripley vs. Liv Morgan Grade: B+
Jey Uso Def. Drew McIntyre
Travis Scott walked out to “Fiend” smoking a blunt in Los Angeles like only he could on Netflix. He was followed by Jey Uso, whose entrance alone required him to be in tip-top condition.
Uso attacked McIntyre with a dive before his entrance was through. After all the time they spent on Jey’s entrance, this match had to get started sooner rather than later.
There were dueling “Let’s Go Jey/Let’s Go Drew!” chants.
As Drew went for the Claymore, Uso dropped to his knees. McIntyre loaded up for a second Claymore, but missed and was trapped in a crucifix rollup by Jey for the upset win.
Drew McIntyre vs. Jey Uso Grade: B
Hulk Hogan Gets Booed Out Of The Building On Netflix
The second Hulk Hogan’s music hit he was showered with boo’s. It felt like if he was cutting a promo at the Democratic National Convention. He was flanked by Jimmy Hart, but it didn’t matter. These people booed the hell out of that man.
The boo’s reached a fever pitch when Hogan plugged his Real American Beer. Hogan then ripped his shirt to reveal a Netflix t-shirt and was booed even more. There’s no way WWE couldn’t have seen this coming. What a disaster.

CM Punk Vs. Seth Rollins
Always one to troll AEW, CM Punk walked out in the same jacket he wore during the infamous Brawl In.
There were dueling chants of “let’s go Rollins/CM Punk!” By night’s end, a babyface will have won every match of the night.
Seth Rollins countered the GTS with a GTS of his own for a red-hot nearfall. These two pros were peaking this match perfectly.
Rollins and Punk brawled on the table, and Seth hit a Pedigree on Punk. The table didn’t break. Rollins hit a second Pedigree inside the ring for a nearfall.
Seth hit a rare Buckle Bomb followed by a Curbstomp, but Punk put his foot on the rope. With the match nearing its conclusion on Netflix, it was 8:00 p.m. PST. CM Punk countered a superplex/Falcon Arrow combo with two GTS’. The second GTS didn’t really connect, but it was enough for Punk to seal the win. WWE Raw on Netflix went off the air at 8:03 p.m. A home-run show.
Earlier in the night, Roman Reigns said he’d like to be officially acknowledged as Tribal Chief on January 27. Could this be the beginning of an big angle with Punk that involves his mysterious favor from Heyman?
