A flower bed filled with perennials is just what you need in your front yard. Try white and pink begonias and add some discrete plantings of boxwood, blackberries, daylilies, miscanthus and tall orange lilies to create a garden like this.

Liven up the space under your favorite tree with a circular flower bed contained by pavers. Fill the interior with garden soil and plant a large amount of coleus of different colors, some specimens of impatiens and Veronica, among other plants with warm tones.

A hollowed-out trunk can be used to plant a bed of cheerful flowers such as roses, blue irises, red gerberas, daffodils, and white and blue phlox. The sword-shaped green leaves contrast with the softness and brightness of the flowers.

If you have an old wheelbarrow that is past its prime, there is no reason to throw it away. Place it in the center of the circular flower bed that includes impatiens, campanulas and hemerocallis in the front and false sunflowers in the background. The old-fashioned street lamp behind the wheelbarrow gives the flower bed great height and interest.

An old suitcase can be reused, as can an old wheelbarrow. Place the suitcase on a chair and plant some purple and white striped petunias, and white and magenta flowers, among others.
