BOCA RATON, Fla. (WPTV/CNN Newsource/WKRC) – A man was driving to work when a plane crashed on the road directly in front of him, forcing him to drive and run through the flaming wreckage to escape danger.

Pablo Tafur told local outlet WPTV that he was driving to work on Friday when he heard a loud noise from above him.

“I hear the [plane’s] engine right on top of me,” Tafur said. “Hits the road right on top of my car. Crash into it, go into the flames.”

“Next thing I know the car is on fire,” he said. “It’s hot inside.”

After he slammed on the brakes and swerved, crashing into a palm tree, Tafur knew that he had to act quick to get to safety, so he made the only decision he could.

“I ran through the flames to get out and then made it to safety,” he said. “I open the door and there was fire right there.”

Despite the intensity of the incident, Tafur escaped the ordeal with only first degree burns.

“I’m just lucky to be here,” he said. “Not my day today, somebody is looking out.”

The other three people involved in the crash, all on board the plane itself, died.
